03/How Rao International recruits skilled trades workers for Germany

01

Recruitment

You share the job details, including the trade, number of workers needed, site location, start date, and salary. Rao then finds suitable candidates in India.

02

Screening

We check the candidates’ trade certificates and work experience. We also arrange practical tests or video interviews as required. You make the final hiring decision.

03

Work Permit and Visa Process

To help workers move to Germany legally, the process generally includes these steps:

Job Offer: The German employer provides a job offer and employment contract.

Qualification Recognition: The worker’s trade qualifications must be recognised in Germany. In some cases, a recognition partnership allows the worker to enter Germany and complete the recognition process while working. This route requires a qualification based on at least two years of vocational training, along with other eligibility conditions.

Employment Approval: The Federal Employment Agency approves the job if approval is required.

Fast-Track Process: The employer can apply for Germany’s fast-track skilled worker procedure. The local foreigners authority coordinates with the relevant authorities.

Visa Application: The worker applies for a German national visa through the German mission in India.

Rao helps prepare the workers’ documents and tracks the process with you. The employer and worker remain responsible for their respective legal applications.

04

Deployment

Once the visa is approved, we coordinate the worker’s travel with your site start date. We also explain the employment contract and work conditions to the worker before departure.

05

Ongoing Support

Our support continues after the worker arrives in Germany. Rao remains your main contact for document-related questions, worker concerns, and general coordination.

04/Simple Work Permit Process — Germany (Construction)

01

Employer offers a construction job

The German construction employer provides a job offer or employment contract specifying the position and employment conditions.

02

Check work visa eligibility

The worker checks the applicable German work visa route based on their nationality, qualifications, experience and job role.

03

Prepare worker documents

Usually required:

  • Valid passport
  • Job offer or employment contract
  • Relevant construction qualifications or experience certificates, where applicable
  • Recognition of professional qualifications, if required
  • Proof of German language skills, if required for the specific route
04

Apply for the work visa

The worker submits the relevant visa application and supporting documents through the responsible German mission or applicable online process.

05

Visa application is assessed

The authorities review the application, employment conditions and any required Federal Employment Agency approval.

06

Travel to Germany and complete formalities

After the visa is approved, the worker travels to Germany, completes any required residence formalities and begins work in accordance with the visa or residence permit conditions.

Construction workers receive a National (D) Visa under the Skilled Worker Visa after their trade qualifications are recognised. Those with at least 2 years of experience may qualify for the Experienced Worker Visa instead. The full process usually takes around 2–4 months.

05/What do you decide and what Rao International handles for Germany?

Some experienced workers in non-regulated occupations may qualify through a separate experience-based route. The competent German authority decides each case.

The time depends on qualification recognition, Federal Employment Agency review and visa appointment dates. The employer-led fast-track procedure sets deadlines for the authorities. It is the quickest route. The standard route takes longer, and recognition alone can take several months.
